subscribe [suhb-'skrahyb] verb - to contract to receive and pay for a certain number of issues of a publication. David loved videogames. He subscribed to tons of gaming magazines, and a few videogame-related channels on YouTube.
reputation [rep-yuh-'tey-shuhn] noun - the general estimation a person or something is held by the public. Jenny’s school didn’t have a dress code, but she always came in clean, pretty clothing anyway. She had a reputation in her class as the best dressed student. She intended to keep it that way.
magnet ['mag-nit] noun - a piece of iron or steel that attracts metals with iron or steel in them. Eric loved to play with his horseshoe magnet. Eric knew magnets weren’t magic, but watching it pull and push other magnets around without touching them seemed incredible regardless.
dispose [di-'spohz] verb - to get rid of; discard. Betty and Tim learned of a better way to dispose of their paper trash on Earth Day. Instead of chucking their old papers in the trash, they took the time to sort and recycle them.
persevere [pur-suh-'veer] verb - to persist in doing something. 1. Even though the old man was indifferent, the child persevered and kept asking questions. 2. John was recently added to the school basketball team. He knew it would cost some pain and frustration, but he would persevere. He would become a varsity member of the team as soon as he was able.
