consult [kuhn-'suhlt] verb - to seek advice or information from; ask guidance from. Since all of the documents involved in buying a house are very complicated, Peter should consult his lawyer before signing the final contract.
delicate ['del-i-kit] adj - fragile; easily damaged; frail. Michael was mad about his sister breaking the delicate family heirloom. It had been well stored and passed down for generations.
condemn [kuhn-'dem] verb - to express an unfavorable or adverse judgment on; indicate strong disapproval of; censure. Megan stared down at the last few vegetables on her plate. Although she was not a fan of cabbage, she knew that her father condemned the needless waste of food, so she did her best to finish.
credulous ['krej-uh-luhs] adj - willing to believe or trust too readily, esp. without proper or adequate evidence; gullible. It is important that teachers of junior high and high school not be too credulous by nature, otherwise students will often give wild, unlikely excuses and get away with it.
conceive [kuhn-'seev] verb - to form an idea; think. It is impossible for me to conceive why anyone would want to put mayonnaise on his Caesar salad, but I suppose we all have different opinions of what tastes good.
highbrow ['hahy-brou] noun - a person of superior intellectual interests and tastes. Callie and Sarah didn't particularly enjoy the movie they went to see last Tuesday. It was a film for highbrows about a violinist living in Paris, and the girls generally prefer comedies.
appraise [uh-'preyz] verb - to estimate the nature, quality, importance, etc. Ethan wanted his friend to appraise the market value of an old Macintosh computer. He thought it might be worth a lot more as a collectible item.
jeopardize ['jep-er-dahyz] verb - to put in risk; hazard; imperil. When I was driving my aunt to the emergency room to deliver her second child, I knew that I needed to get there quickly. I obeyed all the traffic rules, though, because I didn't want to jeopardize the safety of everyone in the car.

Before he had time to slam on the brakes, he hit another man's car, and they both got out to exchange insurance information.
