  • Understand the history of films and cinema
  • Do the exercises of finding words , answering the questions and identifying the main idea

- Lead to the new lesson: Today, we will learn a new lesson “ Films and cinema” to understand more about films and the history of film industry

- Ask Ss to listen to the tape and underline new words

- Ask Ss to work independently to do task 1 in 2 ms

- Have Ss compare the answers with a friend

Task 2 : Answer the questions

  1. Work in groups : talk about the passage using the cues

- 19th century: Films were about 5-10 minutes long.

- 1905: films were about 5-10 minutes long

- 1910s   : The first long films were made.

- 1915    : Films became even longer and better. Cinemas were first built.

- 1920    : Sound was introduced and old silent films were replaced by the spoken ones.
