UNIT 14: THE WORLD CUP

 

I/ Objectives

1. Educational aims: through the lesson, students will be able to:

  • Enrich their vocabulary by guessing meaning in context.
  • Understand the history of World Cup
  • Do the exercises of matching , filling in the blanks and T/F sentences

2. Skill: reading for gist and specific information

2. Do you know the biggest football championship in the world?

- Lead to the new lesson: Today, we will learn a new lesson “ The World Cup” to understand more about the history of World Cup

- Ask Ss to read the passage, get information, and prepare for Tasks.

- 13 is the number of teams playing in the first we

- 1930 is the year when the first World Cup was held.

- 32 is the number of teams playing in the World Cup in the modern time./ now

- 2002 is the year when the First time World Cup was played in Asia and hosted by two nations.
