Maria: Hi Kevin! What are you reading?

Kevin: Hello Maria! I'm reading a book about Vietnamese weddings. 

Maria: I see. Do you need the information for a school assignment?

Kevin: Yes. I'm preparing for my presentation about the similarities and differences between a traditional Vietnamese wedding and a modern one. 

Maria: That's interesting! So what are the similarities? 

Kevin: Both weddings include the proposal ceremony, the engagement ceremony and the wedding ceremony.

Maria: And the differences?

Kevin: The ceremonies are less complicated in modern weddings.  

Maria: Sounds better. I guess the bride and groom will be much happier if they don't have to waste money on unnecessary things.

Kevin: Well. in fact, wedding expenses these days are much greater than in the past.

Maria: Why's that? What's the biggest cost?

Kevin: The reception is the most expensive, especially if it is held in a big hotel.

Maria: I guess the couples get support from their families.

Kevin: Yes. of course. Some parents cover most expenses of the wedding. The bride and groom also get money as presents from the guests.

Maria: Sounds good. They're surely the happiest people on their wedding day no matter what the costs are!

Kevin: That's true.

Maria: Well, I have to go now. Good luck with your presentation!

Maria: Nghe hay hơn đấy. Mình đoán cô dâu và chú rể sẽ vui hơn nếu họ không phải tốn nhiều tiền cho những thứ không cần thiết.

Kevin: À, thực ra, chi phí đám cưới ngày nay lại nhiều hơn so với trong quá khứ.

Maria: Tại sao vậy? Cái nào tốn nhất?

Kevin: Tiệc chiêu đãi là tốn kém nhất đặc biệt nếu nó được tổ chức trong một khách sạn.

Maria: Mình đoán các cặp đôi nhận được sự hỗ trợ từ gia đình.

Kevin: Dĩ nhiên là có. Vài phụ huynh chi trả hầu hết cho các đám cưới. Cô dâu và chú rể cũng nhận được tiền như là quà từ khách.

Hey guys, I am Lan.Today I want to share with you some points about the traditional Vietnamese weddings.

First of all, the symbol of Vietnam wedding is two doves shaping the heart. Secondly, the weddings always include the proposal ceremony, the engagement and the wedding. On the engagement, the bride and grooms usually choose Ao dai - Vietnamese traditional clothes. Its colour is deserve such as: red, yellow, white. A special feature is, on the the engagement, the groom's family would make a trip to the bride's home with a gift of betel nuts to officially ask permission to receive the bride. On the wedding day, most of brides and grooms wear western white dress and suit.

Trước hết, biểu tượng của đám cưới Việt Nam là hai chú chim bồ câu tạo hình trái tim. Thứ hai, đám cưới luôn bao gồm lễ cầu hôn, lễ đính hôn và đám cưới. Trong lễ đính hôn, cô dâu chú rể thường chọn áo dài - trang phục truyền thống của Việt Nam. Màu sắc của nó là xứng đáng như: đỏ, vàng, trắng. Điểm đặc biệt là trong lễ đính hôn, nhà trai sẽ làm lễ vật đến nhà gái với lễ vật là trầu cau để chính thức xin phép rước dâu. Trong ngày cưới, hầu hết các cô dâu, chú rể đều mặc trang phục áo dài trắng kiểu Tây.
